New Yankee Stadium?

I'm not happy about the new Yankee Stadium.
Have you heard about it?
Did you watch the press conference?
Did you see the plans or the artist's rendition?

It's a disaster, in my humble ball-snagging opinion. Why? Because the current Yankee Stadium is awful and the new one, in replicating the feel and tradition, is going to be just as bad.

Actually, no. It's going to be even worse. It's going to be 4,000 seats smaller (which means it'll fill up faster) and probably much more expensive, despite Yankees president Randy Levine's promise: "We pledge to all our fans that this ballpark will be affordable."

Really, Randy? You're going to spend $800 million and then LOWER your ticket prices? That's what you'll have to do because Yankee Stadium isn't exactly affordable right now.

I think the quote was supposed to read: "We pledge to all our [corporate] fans that this ballpark will be affordable."

Luckily, the monstrosity isn't scheduled to open until 2009.
Hopefully, the new Shea will be better.

(Cue Sarcasm)
Maybe they meant that Luxury box prices will be lowered.

You know, I get worried every time a team, no matter the sport, says that they need more luxury boxes, heck, eventually, every seat will be a luxury box.

(Shivers)

"Heck" indeed.
Well said.
