No Yankee-Panky tonight
It's 4pm and I've been struggling to decide what to do tonight. I don't have to work...but do I really want to go to Yankee Stadium? There've been like 15 or 20 consecutive sellouts there. Last time I went, the cheapest ticket was $42 so I made a U-turn and headed back home. Last night in the Bronx, the attendance was 54,871, and there's no reason to believe that tonight will be any different. Plus, it looks like it might rain. So I'm not going. Am I worried about my streak(s) ending? No. The simple fact is that it's not fun for me to be at a game with that many people.
I'm free for the next two days as well. My original plan was to drive down to Camden Yards tomorrow and go to Yankee Stadium again on Thursday. But in six days, I'm leaving for Cincinnati, and two days later, I'll be heading to Houston. It's going to be an intense trip...four games in four days with very little sleep. I feel like I should skip Baltimore and just stay home and do my laundry and prepare my rosters and start gathering everything else I'll need and start packing and catch up on my journal and my e-mails and maybe even exercise a little bit and keep working on shifting my sleep pattern. And so on.
Once upon a time, I attended 80 games a year (and would've gone to 150 if my parents hadn't shipped me off to sleep-away camp every summer). These days, I'm happy if I average one game a week. The regular season lasts six months. That's 24 weeks. I've been to 23 games this year, and we still have over seven weeks left. I'm on a good pace, so whatever.
I believe it's time to start the hourly countdown:
145 hours until I'll be entering Great American Ballpark...

Zack, GET SOME SLEEP ALREADY AND STOP WRITING ABOUT IT. By the way, I make typos too, but love pointing yours out for some reason. LOL!!!!!

Zack-
I'm going on Thursday night to Dodger Stadium. The blue crew is playing the Philadelphia Phillies. Do you have any "guys to mention" that throw a lot of foul balls. Do you have any players in your mind from the Phillies who are nice guys?

George-
Why is this so difficult for you to understand? I'm shifting my sleep pattern little by little...30 to 60 minutes per night.

The three nicest guys on the Phillies roster are Rheal Cormier, Cory Lidle, and Todd Pratt. Billy Wagner can be all right. Bullpen coach Ramon Henderson is also pretty generous. Yell "Tank!" at Pratt. That's his nickname. The biggest jerk on the team (and possibly in the NL East) is Jason Michaels. Don't bother wasting your words on him. He won't even look up.

Alright, seeing how you are a God of collecting baseballs I would like to know something. I frequently visit Miller Park because as you know I am a brewers fan. Where do you think is the best place for BP there? Thank you

heh, when I hear birds singing you should feel okay. Everyone's different. Theres no universal rule which states one must sleep at so and so time, lol thats the beauty of life. We are all different and all live differently. =)

Mike-
An hour before the gates open, go to that restaurant in left field called Front Row Fridays and get a table on that narrow terrace that overlooks the field. There no netting there. You can get balls thrown or hit, and there's a gap right below where you can fish balls out if you have some sort of retrieving device that can be lowered with a string. Basically, it's like getting a free hour of BP. After that, I'd try to work the LF foul line to get a few balls thrown. Then maybe try the second deck in LF for about ten minutes, and leave plenty of time for the lower deck in RF. There's a beautiful gap behind the wall out there, as you probably know. Try to get to the dugouts after each team finishes BP. That's really a general strategy, but I'm mentioning it so you won't forget. Hope that helps. Let me know how you do.

Believe me, I know about being different, but yes, good point about sleep.

hey, this isn't fullproof, but why don't you almost buy tickets on the yankees websites in situations like this. I don't know when gameday tickets stop going on sale day of, but you'd be able to find out if there wre any cheap seats still available, and based on which section they offer you, how many. That should be enough to determine if the cheapest ticket is $42.
