All i know is that you went to Philadelphia, and enjoyed your stay in the Hotel room.
(and the desserts look amazing)
that was weird, right as I refreshed this page the new story came up!!

Oh and about dodger stadium, the hard thing is that to get right behind the dugout, you need to get into the Dugout Club. There is a cement wall separating it from the rest of the seats, you have to have a hand stamp and ticket stub to go through the special entrance located a level up.
--Ethan
Well to start you look like a white dressed up wanna be gangster whi is going to some meuseam in Philly, sponsored by the Phillies. I thinnk its a baseball book party and your book had a table.
o my gosh food ! i am sorry this entry just makes me hungry and sure the phillies give out good food but the mets are still my team !
Nobody else is playing so let me see if I can get things rolling here. Colonel Hample or Professor Phanatic? In the library? In the ballroom? In the hall? In the dining room? With the knife or with the candlestick? Not enough clues! ;)
It looks like you were an honored guest at a swanky affair. A book auction is being held by the Phriends of Phillies to benefit a worthy cause. Dinner and dessert? You're SO there!
you were burnin a doobie in the last pic ..munchies? acapulco gold.
I'm gonna have to say that the Phillies threw a dinner in honor of your baseball writing/snagging. You then played a prank on everyone by getting into the Philly Phanatic mascot costume and walked around the party having Phun. I'm also going to have say you wanted to snag that giant baseball on the dessert table. I would also say the last picture indicates some more "phun" in the hotel room? I could be all wrong though...
I hate the library because it's too quiet. I hope you stayed in the Hilton family of hotels too.
Leigh
PS. Greg Maddux resigns with the Padres. That's good for at least 14 wins. Woo hoo.
ETHAN-
Good start. You're absolutely right about Philly and the hotel. Dodger Stadium sounds like such a pain.
PUCK COLLECTOR-
Yes, I *do* look like that. I'm not denying it. It wasn't a museum, though. And it wasn't strictly a book party, but you're on the right track.
GTPLAYA1994-
The food was soooooo good, and I'm with you about the Phillies/Mets.
GREEN EYED LADY-
It was indeed swanky. I don't know how "honored" I was, but I was indeed a guest. ("Indeed" is a fun word.) There was a silent auction. Not just books. I donated a "Watch With Zack" experience. Not sure how much it went for, but I know it got some bids. The worthy cause was supporting the Free Library of Philadelphia and all of its literacy programs. Dinner and dessert and more dessert. I'm paying for it now, but **** it was fun at the time.
TRACYCOLLINSBECKY-
Not burnin'. Just chillin' and pimpin'.
NICK-
I wish. The event was baseball-themed, and there were lots of baseball authors there, including ESPN's Jayson Stark (whom I saw up close but didn't get to talk to). Would've been fun to wear the mascot suit instead of a suit and tie, but no, it was THE guy in that suit who normally wears it at Phillies games. Didn't anyone notice what I labeled that pic and do a search for that word plus "phillie phanatic"? C'mon, people, there were some clues for you. I do like giant baseballs, but there was no way I was getting out the door with it. Phun was definitely had, but since this is a "family blog," I can't say anything more about it.
LEIGH-
Once again, you're my first source of Padres news. Cool. I hope Maddux pitches 'til he's 50 and wins 400 games. The library wasn't quiet that night. It was so loud with 500 people and a band that I had to shout to be heard, just in normal conversation. The hotel was the Four Seasons ($400 per night plus tax), and it was all paid for, along with a $135 roundtrip train ticket. Not bad. If you look at my bathrobe, you can see the Four Seasons logo. Go to the Four Seasons web site, and you'll immediately see it.
EVERYONE-
Another clue: see how I labeled the pic in which I'm standing with nine other people in front of some books? That's because the company Target was one of the supporters of this event, and I was at their table for dinner. They were awesome. Everyone should shop at Target. Too bad there isn't one (yet) in Manhattan.
Anyway, there you have it.
i LOVE the Phillie phanatic
I caught on right away - that's how I knew it was a library, a BALLroom, etc. Wasn't sure about the Target connection but I did a search on Burgoyne immediately after spying that title!

I think it is not difficult to get joe torre's auto at all, especially he is dodger manager now. I got his auto in front of hom plate gate of angel stadium. Just come to the freeway series next year and waited in front of home plate gate or the back entrance. I am certain you will eventually run into joe torre, I did. And I will be there for sure next year. Another thing, joe torre is the MOST INTIMIDATING person I encounted when getting auto. Last season, a auto hound tried to get his auto while standing right in front of him. Torre said "you got no chance of getting my autograph if you stand in my way. It was at the back entrance. I didn't get his auto that day. But I did the second day in home plate gate. He walked really fast, I need to jog sideway in order to get auto. I was there at 12:30 pm for a 7pm game.
-Zack
Dodger stadium is much much more than a pain. It is a absolutely nightmare for any auto collector. I live like 15 miles from Dodger stadium. But I have been to minute maid park as many times as I been to dodger stadium last season. I got pathetic 1 auto in 2 games. Got shut out in one brave-dodger game.In petco park I can get over 15 autos easily. Oh yeah, while other stadiums have ushers guarding dugout area, dodger stadium go above and beyond building bleeping concrete wall. There are also many reasons I hate Dodger stadium. Overall dodger stadium is an inferior baseball watching experience. The place is built exclusively for very rich people.
I think Phillie Phanatic just become my most favorite mascot. Here is a very funny clip of met and phanatic don't know if you have seen it.
Of course it's built for the rich. It's Hollywood. I want to say that I completely agree, Dodger Stadium is a terrible place if you are looking for overall fan experience.
I do want to say, that it also is the only stadium without a bad seat in the house, and the field is absolutely perfect (especially before the baseline field box seats). There is no better place to WATCH a game.
ATTENDING a game is a different story.

I disagree that there is no bad seat in dodger stadium. I notice that the set up of seats for nomal ticket area is very crowded, there is very little leg space. I think that's why dodger stadium does not allow backpack. Most seats in dodger stadium are kind of seats that tommy lasorda wouldn't sit comfortaby in. However for PETCO park, Tony Gwynn would sits comfortably in any seats in petco.
I have no question that the field in dodger stadium is perfect, which is just like any other major league stadiums that have real grass. The field in angel stadium and petco park look just as nice as that of dodger stadium.
GOISLANDERS4-
I wonder if we could start a Hot Stove League for mascots...but I doubt the Phillies would trade the Phantic straight up for Mr. Met. We'd have to throw in some mascot prospects. Who do the Mets have in the minors?
GREEN EYED LADY-
Well, then your cleverer than most. Thanks again for playing along.
SAMMY-
Interesting info about Torre and Dodger Stadium, and you made me laugh out loud with the line about Lasorda. Great clip on YouTube. Thanks for the link.
ETHAN-
Have you ever sat way up in the upper deck at Dodger Stadium? In my opinion, there are LOTS of bad seats in that place, but that's just the nature of any ballpark that holds 55,000 fans. Even Fenway has bad seats. Wrigley would get my vote for the stadium with the fewest bad seats.
I **start** up at the top deck every game. It's a great view. the legroom does ****, but It still isn't a bad way to watch a game.
--Ethan
Okay so I'm coming into this really late, but the pic of you in the fluffy robe was so unexpected that I had to snort out loud. Not that you don't look handsome as can be, that is. All you're missing is a martini & cigar. Congrats on the awesome time!
