Halloween
Checked out the huge Halloween parade last night here in New York City.

Got there late. Couldn't get near the front. Didn't see a **** thing...but it almost didn't matter because people were wearing full costumes everywhere.
Jona and I got into the spirit of things, but kept it simple. She wore angel wings and devil horns. I threw on the 70s wig and sunglasses.
Then we went back to my place and watched "Dark Water" (which I recently bought on VHS for a buck...oh yeah) and got completely freaked out. Good times.
What did YOU do for Halloween? Did you dress up? Eat five pounds of candy? Play any pranks?

Well for halloween I dressed up as Jason and covered myself with fake blood and had a broken hockey stick. My friend dressed up as Jigsaw from Saw and we got candy in our neighborhood. Then we went to his house and scarred people where we would stand on each side of the door as bodyguards and his sister was in front of the door under a blanket and had this machine that made ur voice sound like an alien so when someone went back out of the house after getting candy i would put my hockey stick out and not let them pass and then wed chase them across the street. We got some pretty good laughs from that. But ive never been to a halloween parade...

It looks like the Comic-con convention in San Diego. Nice hair Zack. For the record everyone....I think Mike Cameron is an IDIOT for testing positive for amphetamines a SECOND time. I really hope we don't resign him. I'd rather have Andruw Jones or Torii Hunter in CF next year. Other Padres rumors heard in the last few days. Former Padre P Matt Clement returns (I hope not) and P Curt Schilling is interested in coming to pitch in SD next year. I'll take him!!

Joel Zumaya on the Tigers hurts his shoulder moving furniture during the SD wildfires evacuation. Looks like he'll miss half the season. That's just too bad for him and the Tigers. Also, David Justice's house burned down. He's the only ballplayer I know of that lost their home.

I handed out candy to kids. My brother went out, but I couldn't--no one else was home and me being the oldest, I had to be there.

Dude, you were there too? (That's in the Village, right?) Me and a bunch of buddies got there at like 10:15 and missed the whole parade.

Being that we're teenagers, there's nothing more like invading the neighborhood houses and pretending to be little kids again. Anyway, there were about 15 of us, maybe even 20 at one point, had a whale of a time. Then we hung out at someone's house and watched Dark Water too..though I only stayed for about 20 minutes or so. Fun night, felt like a little kid again.

i went over to a neighbors house . this guy chases people around with a chainsaw ( he takes the chain off first) and then he cranks it up and chases people and gives them candy in the end. but this year he just got back from dropping someone off at the airport so he didn't do his thing. it ******. he said next year he'd come and get me. then he flipped two candy bars in my bag and we talked for a while and then i headed off. when i was around three, me and a couple of my friends and our parents went trick or treating and we went up to the exact same house. the neighbor is dressed up like a mad scientist and what i don't see is that my friends dad hid behind a tree and then jumped out from behind, plastic sword in hand and attacked the neighbor(of course it was just a joke but me and my friends were three, what did we know?) so here they are chasing each other up and down the street and we were crying and running. and then just as we were running we hear a police siren go off. the cops show up at his house and ask him what was up. he told the cops that he was just fooling around. ever since then he's gotten the cops called on him three freakin' times. he's never gotten arrested. i'm glad he never did . he's a cool guy.

Halloween? I spent it teaching Japanese people how to say words like "skeleton", "pumpkin", "ghost", "witch", and explaining "trick-or-treat", which is a completely alien concept on this side of the Pacific. ("What? You go into people's houses and ask them for candy? That's very rude!") For a country that's known for having people wear elaborate outfits and costumes, Japan is surprisingly uninterested in Halloween besides putting pumpkin decorations in stores.
I also dressed up as the Nippon Ham Fighters' centerfielder Hichori Morimoto (I was CF Tsuyoshi Shinjo last year), which was a big hit as far as costumes go. Many students asked to have their picture taken with me. Sadly, this didn't actually help the Fighters win the Japan Series, but that's ok.

Oh, and one last comment. Barry will be boycotting his own HoF induction if his asterisked ball is in it. That almost seems like he is admitting to using steroids. Just thought that that is very silly of him. Good night everyone (well, good morning if you want to get technical).

RAMONES18-
That sounds like fun. I've also been to Halloween parades in Charlotte, NC. (I went to college an hour away). Definitely get to a parade if you can.
LEIGH-
Would you believe that the first I heard about Cameron was from your comment right here?! Man, he IS an idiot. "Tainted supplement?" What a phony.
GJK2212-
Hilarious. Do you have any pics?
YANKSFAN61293-
Sorry you got stuck with that chore. Hope you kept some candy for yourself.
SOXSUXYANKS-
Oh my god, you're right! Ew!
GREG-
Oh yes, the Village. Things were done that early? Jona and I took off a little before then.
DARRON-
I don't know about scaring the three-year-old, but I'm sure the 15-year-old deserved it.
DANNYZHANG312-
Sounds like a great time, especially with the huge size of your group. What a coincidence that you were watching the same movie.
MARKSHARK22-
Apparently, "three" is the magic age for getting scarred for life on Halloween. I like the chainless chainsaw idea. If only I lived in the country and HAD a chainsaw...
PUCK COLLECTOR-
Now *that* is how it's done. Excellent work, m'boy.
MURRSPIVEY-
My dad loves Chaplin and passed that love along to me. I think it's Halloween every day in the Village.
TSWECHTENBERG-
What a lovely man you are. As for the movie, I never said it was "good." In fact, Jona thought it was a piece of doody. It's tacky. Interesting at times. Entertaining, I think, but probably not what real movie buffs would consider "good." Did you ever see "The Ring"? THAT is a good freakin' (emphasis on freak) movie.
DEANNA-
I love it, especially the "rude" part. I had no idea that Halloween is an after-thought in Japan. You got pics of your costume? Can you share a link? There are no more words for Barroids. He's truly in his own world.

Wow! I had an awesome game tonight! Al Arbour's 1500th game, and 740th win(if you don't know who Al Arbour is, look him up). I got a puck from the trainer, and another from security. I then got the game puck after the 1st period, which I believe is my 10th ever game puck. I would have had another in the second, but there was another kid.
The Islanders came back from 2-0 to win 3-2 with a goal in the last few minutes. Then there was a great ceremony after the game with several former Islanders including Hall of Famers. As my dad and me were leaving Doolin's Pub (where the post game radio show is held in the Nassau Coliseum) my dad spotted Clark Gillies outside (you can look him up too!), and I got an every letter autograph and his number nine on a practice puck. Gillies was attending a post-game party in the a Coliseum banquet room, so since we saw him, we figured to wait for more players. I got Bill Guerin on a puck, and Ed Westfall and Pat LaFontaine on ticket stubs. However, I when my Dada spotted Al arbour and told me to ask him to sign my game puck, he wouldn't sign because by that time, there were too many people. I think I'm gonna mail him the puck and stub to get signed. I hope it works.

GJK-Last year, the Isles had open practices at the NVMC for season ticket holders. Often the visiting team would skate as well, and if an Islander didn't sign by the seats heading towards their locker room, you could catch them going to their cars after practice on the north side of the arena. Visitors might also return to the Marriott next to the arena if the team was staying there.
The Islanders do not have these regular Saturday morning events any more, but they practice at Iceworks in Syosset (sp?) and all of those practices are open to the public. I can't say how much players will sign there, but I'll bet they're pretty good about it. So I might call Iceworks and get the schedule.

ETHAN-
The best way to get a manager's autograph (inside a stadium) is to be as close to the home-plate end of his dugout as possible. I haven't been to Dodger Stadium in seven years, but I understand that security has gotten REALLY strict there, so that might be tough for you.
ANNE_DOULA-
Cool.
GOISLANDERS4-
Do YOU have a pic of your costume?
GJK2212-
Too bad. But I don't blame him.
PUCKCOLLECTOR-
I don't know any of those people, but still cool.

A little late on this response, but I figure I would post my costume. I showed off my jersey before, but this year, I went at Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn of "Major League" fame. This was the first movie closer role in the one game playoff. I even cut my hair for the part, and I've had to deal with it for the last week at work. Here are the two pics.

I got the glasses from the stadium giveaway earlier in the season in Cleveland, but they just had white tape on the middle. So to be true, I had to buy a skill and crossbones pin and glue it to the glasses. The jersey is about as authentic as you can get, 20 years old and custom made, and the pants are game used, Paul Sorrento 1994 pants. Closer to the 1989 style than my 1992 Carlos Baerga gamer pants. Also, Sorento's fit better, Baerga has a huge ***.
