Look for me on TV (part 2)
If you've been reading this blog since last summer, you might recall that I posted an entry about my seat location before heading to the 2007 Home Run Derby and All-Star Game.
Well, I'm about to fly to Denver for five games at Coors Field, starting on Monday, June 16th, and since I'm going to have seats in very visible locations, I thought I'd give a heads-up so you can look for me on TV.
Here's a satellite image from Google Earth that shows where my seats will be throughout the week:

The "Friday night" location is the most important because the Mets will be in town and the game will be televised in New York City (my hometown).
Here's another image to show you where I'll be sitting during the Mets game on Friday, June 20th:

In the photo above, you can see that there's a blue sign on the outfield wall. On Friday, June 20, I'll be sitting just above the far right edge of that sign.
That sign says "Frontier Airlines," and here's a close-up:

See the guy in the black hoodie? That's where I'll be. But I won't be wearing anything black and generic. Oh no. Not me. Remember my "Where's Waldo" shirt? That's right. Even though
a certain someone (who shall remain nameless) hates this shirt, I'll be taking it with me and breaking it out at the Mets game. I know it's obnoxious. I know it's not the best fashion choice. But it's great for being spotted in a crowd, and if you don't believe me, here's proof.
I'm not sure if I'll end up sitting in my seats during any other games. I'm gonna be with an Associated Press writer for at least a few days, and he wants to see me in action. Sitting in one spot (400-plus feet from home plate) for three hours and hoping for a home run ball doesn't exactly qualify as "action," so I'll probably be running all over the place. But again, and for the final time, it's all about June 20th. Put it on your calendar. The first pitch is scheduled for 9:05pm ET.
By the way, my seats for all five games are in the front row just behind the outfield wall--and this isn't your typical front row. It's really more of an aisle, one that happens to be nice and wide, and fans can't even go there during batting practice without a ticket for that row.
How many balls do I expect to snag in Denver? I have no idea, but I'd like to get at least 28 in five days. That would give me 200 for the season. I've never reached that milestone before the All-Star Break...

Don't you think the Rockies will start to remember you after the first couple of games?

ROCK PILE RANTER-
Can't wait. You'll be wearing the green floppy hat?
LEIGH-
Glad you're kidding. My seat on Friday just so happens to be right next to Dan, so HE better stay out of MY way. :-)
ACSPORT-
Yes, I'm sure they will, so I'm going to make sure I don't ask everyone on the team for a ball on the first day. The good news is that the seats extend all the way around to center field, so I can focus on different areas throughout the week.

Zack.....Applause for the Waldo shirt!! I will no doubt be watching all five games to spot you. You are going to clean up with them seats. They are like a Wonka Golden Ticket for getting baseballs. Good luck out here in the West!!
lsthrasher..thanks for the congrats on winning the Griffey ticket.
donnieanks..very nice blog about your visit to Fenway.

You will definitely get that milestone. You are averaging 8 balls per game, you are going to 5 games, you have tickets to spots no everyday person can get to, and you are just simply amazing at snagging. I say you get closer to 40 balls over the course of this trip. Plus, you have another half a month (?) until the all-star break after this trip. Plenty of time to reach 200.

I might try a trial of mlb tv, hopefully I wont forget to call and cancel it! Good luck. I also have a question, if I am trying to catch a foul bowl at a minor league park , where should I stand? in the concourse behind the dugout or 2 sections over? Thanks

Hey zack hope you dont mind but i got some questions to ask. When 2 players are warming up do you usually just wait till they are done to ask or ask while they are warming up to give it to you when they are done? and also do you ever ask when someone doesnt have a ball for a ball? and finally have you ever asked for a ball when the pitcher is done warming up before the game for that ball they used? Thanks its probably confusing though. and good luck at coors!

zack, cool your jet!!! save ur energy.
There are young children in this world, who do not even get to see 1 game a season and here you went to Florida last week and know going to Denver.
Zack, please slow down on snagging.

haha redman hope you were kidding
youll come home with 30, and remember this post-you will break your season record this year.
hellllo philly friday-surprisingly enough my 1st non-nyc game this season. summer is when stuff will start taking off for me.

By Redman's logic, no team should sell season tickets or be allowed to make money. I guess I should be ashamed of my 24 MLB games this year lol. By the way, now = know. Zack, average 5.2 balls per game and you'll be right at 28!

Hey Zack I know you have been to almost every park, which one do you consider your favorite

Zach , you see the 2nd game of the Mets vs Rangers double header there was about 2,000 people there. Would have been great day for foul balls.

Hey Zack,
I will be at the game on Tuesday. we got pretty good seats, section 117. I'll be sure to say "Hi" but I will stay out of your way.

What are the rules during BP at Coors. I remeber you guys talking about it but can't find the entry.

You can enter 2 hours Prior to the game through the gates to the right of gate A. At that time you can only go to the Pavillion bleachers for the first part of BP. I've never seen anyone get away with a glove trick. But you never know. Ushers are pretty cool here. What else you need to know?

tracycollinsbecky- Are you like 8 years old? I've never seen such pathetic ramblings, go back to second grade and learn what a sentence is, you know, those things with periods, capital letters, and punctuations, etc.

i think TC is like leighs age right? and leigh did you have any famous people (golfers) stay at your hotel for the US open?

There is no way he is older than 12. Am I the only one that gets a headache reading his posts? What is with the use of two or three commas in a row?

Tracy is right about the Braves using practice balls. I've never snagged an official ball during Braves BP except for an easter egg earlier this year. Some of the players have examined the balls before throwing them to the crowd. Maybe Zack will have better luck tonight with them. Long live the Waldo shirt!
Is it time to lobby MLB.com for a spell check button?

idk if spell check would fix TC. i get a headache too.

EVERYONE-
I just arrived in Denver. No time to answer comments right now. Gotta head right out to Coors Field, which opens in about 80 minutes. Just want to say quickly that "tracycollinsbecky" is a living ballhawk legend and is hereby exempt (on this blog, at least) from following spelling and grammar rules.

Puck Collector........
Yes, MANY of the golfers stayed at my hotel. I talked with a ton of them on a daily basis for this and that. We had a number of Hollywood types in house too. So many great stories from the week. You're too young for some of them too. Now, I have to clean up the hotel and get the accounting straightened out from last week. Fun stuff. I'd rather be checking into my hotel in Manhattan, sweating the subway ride to the Bronx and getting ready for tomorrow's BP. I hope you get a chance to go and catch a lot of Padres BP balls. I suggest RF for the majority of BP for homers and throw ups. Brian Corey is the best at throwing up if you ask nice. Later....

I'm watching the Braves/Rockies on SportSouth and Joe Simpson and Jon Sciambi are talking about how much they look forward to Shea being torn down. They mentioned a state law that prohibits the implosion of the stadiums. Any more info on that?
As for the game, hope we can hold this 3-0 lead...

Hey Zack, I know this is really random, but as a bet I had to give my friend a baseball autographed by me. Which got me thinking, why do you always get your ticket stub signed instead of one of the baseballs you catch?

lthrasher-yeah that is a rule. another reason to hate the braves. it sucks. i absolutely love shea, and now when i go to citi field next year i hafta see them taking it down piece by piece. it will be painful, to see half of shea standing there. it sucks. shea should go out with a bang, as should yankee. also, i hate when ppl cheer when a stadium is imploded. its a historic site that many love and grew up at, how could you cheer that its gone??

Hey you're going to be in my home ballpark! It is absolutely beautiful, as you will see. I'm sure you will enjoy it because there is not a bad seat in the house and yours seem to be especially good. Another bonus for you--our very own Tulo may be back Friday--there is now way you won't enjoy this.

CSPARKS-
I assume you meant foul "ball," right? It's hard for me to give advice about a stadium I can't see because it all depends on where you have the most room to run around. I think two sections over (meaning...toward the outfield) would probably be better for foul balls in general. BUT...if balls can fly completely out of the stadium, then that changes everything.
MISTER.CHAD-
Sometimes I ask before the players are done. It all depends on the situation and if I feel I need an extra edge by asking early. Sometimes I'll ask for a ball when I'm not sure if the player has one. Like...it might be in his glove or jacket pocket, or if he's heading back to the dugout after BP, there might be a ball sitting down in there that I can't see, so it never hurts to ask. Pitchers rarely give away their warm-up balls, but I've gotten a few here and there over the years.
DHBBALL18-
I looooooove Camden Yards, but I just wish it'd open two and a half hours early instead of just two. And I wish it were closer to NYC. And by the way, I've been to every major league stadium.
SOXSUXYANKS-
Yeah, I saw it. Don't remind me. :-)
DNESBITT-
Good seeing you again.
TRACYCOLLINSBECKY-
You're crazy. I love you. And yes, I have enough oxygen.
JIMDELHOMME-
I think he writes all his comments on his phone, so depending on the keypad, it might be pretty hard to type.
YAYMINH-
I always wanted to keep my baseballs in their original condition, so that meant never playing with them or getting them signed. Ticket stubs were easy alternatives.

oops, I meant ball. Thanks for the tip.
