Btw, a pic of you was in the Daily News Special Edition newspaper today of Citi Field. there was a picture of you and a few other people outside the gate with your hands in the air, i think, in your huge coat.
That is way cool. Have fun!
That's pretty much where my room in Toronto was.
If you've never stayed in that hotel, you're in for a treat. It will allow you to see into a park even long before any player gets there.
I set up a sleeping bag and slept right next to the window, so when I woke up, I was looking into a major league ballpark. It's pretty sweet!
Holy cow Zack!!!!!!!!!!! Waht the-- sorry, can't swear here. Thats freaking awesome. Are you KIDDING ME!! How much are those?? And how many parks have that type of thing. Could you ( I know you woudn't) watch BP or a game from there?? Thats sweet, I'm going to the tuesday game at Busch, probably won't get anything, but ya never know. Good luck, maybe Sheff won't have a home run til he (and you) gets back to NYC.
wait, they toronto has a hotel INSIDE the ballpark? wow, nice view
zack,
that is awesome. enjoy canada! try not to say eh during every sentence. Did I say that that room is awesome?
I'll be there, maybe I'll see you, I'll have my scarlet Team Canada WBC home cap on, and an International League 2007 shirt. I was the one who was wondering if you'd be heading to the WBC in Toronto for games. Cheers! Nice hotel, I have a feeling you won't be in the room trying to snag balls!
baseball363.blogspot.com
Even for a dome, that's great!
Now, that is awesome Zack! I have heard stories of people doing grown up things near the windows of that hotel and causing quite the stir in the audience of a ballgame. I will have to Google what hotel that is.
I have four games on tap this week. I hope I haven't lost what little touch I had towards the end of last year. I will make sure to track down Waldo for you and give him your contact information. I wish everybody a productive year snagging.
Hey Zack, What a view! Nice place to stay for the next couple of days. I was wondering, do you know if that's where the visiting team stays, if so that would be a prime opportunity for some autographs. Good luck up in Canada and here to good luck in your pursuit for Shef's 500th.
Hey, what's up! I am commenting to invite you to a contest I am starting for the 2009 MLB season. It's going to be a pick 'em contest. Every Friday all us bloggers who are competing will make our picks for the slate of MLB games, and we'll keep running totals and see who comes out on top. Should be fun, it's only once a week so it shouldn't be hard to keep up, let me know if you're interested!
Sweet new MLB cap you got there! Oh, and the hotel room is nice too.
The room Is sweet!!!!!! Well good luck snagging in Toronto but I think you don't need it
Here is an article detailing the "history" of those stadium side rooms. It seems as though Zack is on this trip alone so he may need to know that the glass is NOT one way. I kid, I kid. Well, it is officially after midnight in Minnesota which means IT IS OFFICIALLY THE FIRST DAY OF THE BASEBALL SEASON HERE!!!
I posted earlier, but it disappeared. Must have been magic. Good luck on opening day. I like your hotel room alot and I'm a professional. Take it easy.
Great view. I've been there, but couldn't afford the rate ($359 CAD) Hope you have a great 2009.
Hope to see you in Cleveland or Pittsburgh.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That view is amazing! You should cut out a person sized dog door so you could pick up all the easter eggs. Have a great game, even if sheffield isnt there.
EVERYONE-
I'm not paying $400 per night. Not even close. But that's another story for another time. Anyway, I'm really short on time, so I can't answer every comment, but as always, I'm reading them all...
RIPPINDOG_94-
Cool. I'd made a point of holding my arms up for a photographer on the inside. Thanks for letting me know. Is the picture online?
STLFAN-
One most certainly could watch BP (or the game) from the room. But unless it's early BP, "one" will not be me.
DNESBITT14-
Teams don't stay here (anymore) for the simple reason that they get harassed too much by fans. Go figure.
JONNNNNN-
Thanks for the invitation, but I'm gonna have to pass. The No. 1 goal in my life these days is to carve out extra free time for myself, not take anything else on. But it's a cool idea, and I hope it works out.
BOB-
Something like "Lancez-moi la balle s'il vous plait." Oh wait...did you actually want to know, or are you just bein' silly 'cause I'm in Canada?
Very nice Zack! Don't be late for BP!:) How long does it take to get into the park from your room?
Toronto's field has got to be the worst looking (nice carpet tiles) along with Minnesota.
Can't wait to hear about your games...We're snowed-out in Chicago today.
Zack, may I suggest that if you have a free hour during your stay, please check out the Hockey Hall of Fame, which is only a few blocks away.
"Starting in deep, deep right field, Zack Hample!"
A seat with the same view at Yankee Stadium probably costs the same as the room. And it doesn't come with a continental breakfast.
OMG. That is the coolest hotel room EVER! I am so jealous! Please raid the mini-bar for me... :O) I'll be at home, wallowing in my self-pity...ha, ha!
hay those are some nice seats i mean hotel room(both i guess) how many you plan getting
Beautiful stuff!! So what d'you think of the April snow up here in Toronto?
I'll be at the game on Wednesday, but I'll be one of those 50/50 ticket sellers.
zack that looks sick dude. can you open the windows? they look like they have some handles on them or something, if you really really wanted to do you think you could get a ball up there?
Wow that is insane - do you have an internet connection from the room?
Want to come and join us for live chat at www.LiveBaseballChat.com
Would be great to have someone chatting 'from' the game.
Cheers,
Dean
Hi Zack!!!
So, I went to opening day today Padres vs. Dodgers with the goal of catching a Manny Ramirez home run. That didn't happen. Rats. I knew that BP was going to be a mess with all the people so I didn't expect much. I just went for BP home runs and I got one off the bat of Jody Gerut. It had a red star stamped on the sweet spot and the letter "s" next to the star. Kind of like STARS only with the symbol. I've never seen that before. Any guess? I kind of moved all over the left field seats looking for the "spot" for a Manny HR. While I was hanging out in left center Matt Kemp went deep off of Jake Peavy. It went to deep center off of the batters eye. It kind of hit and edge/railing and bounced back onto the field. Jody Gerut walked over to it and turned to out section to throw it up. I was the only person with a glove and I held it up. He threw it right to me. So, in a roundabout way, I got the first MLB homer at PETCO Park this year. Haha. Pretty sweet. I can't count it as a HR catch though. Just a "toss up". Can I count it as a gamer? That was it for the day. Only two balls, but it was the largest crowd in PETCO history. 45K+. We'll see what the attendance will be tomorrow. Can't wait to read about your day in Toronto.
Leigh
It wasnt you who threw the ball at Josh Anderson was it? haha. Leigh- I was watching that game and saw gerut throw it to someone in the crowd, i was wondering if it was you.

There was a guy sitting in the section below us (in Cincinnati) who caught two foul balls without leaving his seat. He caugh the first one clean and the second he bobbled. Still pretty cool.Russhttp://wight4256.mlblogs.com
Zack, I don't even like baseball but I was researching baseballs and came across your site. I have never been so highly entertained by a subject I have no interest in before this! I even learned some things and somehow I even (almost) felt like I was kinda there, ya know? You are a great writer, think about that...take it where it leads you and good luck with your hobby! Thanks for a good read! Duck
NO WAY! Holy crap man...that is awesome! I'm really jealous...Good luck on Opening Day! Let this season be a great one!
